COCOON OR BUTTERFLY

Are you an individual who prefers resting in a safe cocoon rather than become a beautiful butterfly? Is there a sign on you that says, “Please don’t disturb me” I am comfortable in my way of life; but even if I wasn’t, I don’t wish to change?

Is naivety, stubbornness, a comfortable existence, no bumps in the road type of attitude, really the way to close your eyes to “life” or look deeply at the sins that dishonor God? Unfortunately, for many people, this type of attitude is way too common today, even for those of us who claim Christianity. Yet, underneath, if we were honest with each other there IS a yearning to be a butterfly.

Is this a doom and gloom post? No. God is calling all people, especially Christians, to nudge them out of neglect and laziness and into a passion for the wisdom of Jesus Christ! Too many Christian’s are nonchalant about their Christ-like “life” and allow a “that’s good enough” effort in their growth of grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Butterflies will always become butterflies; they exist because of God’s graciousness!

We are created in the image of God, and have minds to accept or refuse our dependence on God.! “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.” God promises an “inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for us.” (1 Peter 1:4)

We are perfect in Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:28) “complete in Him” (2:10) “not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing” (Eph. 1:6). “Is it not delightful to look forward to the time when every stain of sin will be removed from the believer, and he will be presented faultless before the throne. … Not until then will we fully comprehend the heights and depths of the salvation of Jesus. … Christ takes a black and deformed thing and makes it clean and matchless in His glory, peerless in His beauty. … O my soul, stand and admire this blessed truth of perfection in Christ.” (Morning and Evening, Charles Spurgeon, p.68, 1997)

The Armor of Love will help you become a beautiful butterfly (John 8:21-32)! Elaine
